Your role:

This is an opportunity to work at one of the most historic and successful record companies in the world, in the center of the action. You will work behind the scenes, in a fast-paced team environment. You will learn about the business from the best in the business!

Here you’ll get to:

  • Review artist agreements to assess and enforce contractual obligations and advances.

  • Partner with A&R and/or artist management to devise overall spending plan for recording project along with the A&R Department Head.

  • Manage the day-to-day recording process such as issuing purchase orders as needed for studio time, recording engineers, equipment rentals, artist travel, etc.

  • Work with all vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness throughout the recording process and register them in the company system.

  • Review and submit all invoices for payment.

  • Ensure all products are cleared for release. Responsibilities include delivery of required agreements, audio review, and clearing all samples.

  • Provide timely communication regarding the status of each project (i.e., providing budget projections to A&R, alerting business affairs of legal issues, notifying artist/management of production deadlines, advising senior management of potential project overages or delays).

  • Initiate the label waiver process in order to clear all side artists.

  • Collect audio deliverables which include masters, mixes and session files.

  • Review credits for accuracy and flags.

  • Maintain various A&R charts and assist with preparation of weekly meetings.

  • Flag daily emails for A&R Department Head.

  • General administrative duties: calendar management, scheduling, filing, scanning, etc.

  • Assist supervisor with day-to-day management of artist’s projects.

  • Assist with closing projects as it relates to balance of funds.

  • Manage expenses for SVP as needed.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual spend reports.

About you:

  • Able to manage a large roster comprised of a variety of different projects while assessing each project’s specific needs and prioritizing accordingly.

  • Handle budgets cost-effectively and possess strong analytical skills.

  • Review and understand legal contracts and be comfortable upholding legal standards.

  • A great problem solver – even more so, have the ability to anticipate issues before they arise and adjust accordingly.

  • Service-oriented and willing to often take on tasks that are not part of the job description

  • Extremely detail oriented, well organized and focused.

  • Be able to shift gears comfortably and maintain composure when under pressure .

  • Hard worker for whom no task is too small.

  • Excellent phone and communication skills.

  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, numbers, and math.

  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks independently.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel competent.

  • Ability to use discretion regarding confidential matters.

  • You enjoy working behind the scenes and as part of a team.

  • You prefer accuracy over speed.

  • You are loyal.

We’d love it if you also had:

  • Recording studio background or experience

  • Basic understanding of the recording process

  • Encyclopedic musical knowledge

  • Prior aexperience handling T&E
